How to Use a Tumble Shot Blasting Machine? All You Need to Know

Many users encounter problems such as improper operation, unclear maintenance, and unknown applicable scenarios when purchasing and using a tumble shot blasting machine. To help you quickly master how to use the equipment, this article details its application scope, structural features, operation steps, precautions, and differences from crawler shot blasting machines.

A tumble shot blasting machine is used for sand cleaning, rust removal, descaling, and surface strengthening of castings and forgings weighing less than 15 kg in various industries. It is suitable for workpieces that are not sensitive to collision or scratching, making it ideal for small heat treatment workshops. The machine mainly consists of a tumbling barrel, separator, blast wheel, elevator, and gear motor.

It uses a high-speed rotating impeller to throw steel shots onto workpieces continuously tumbling inside the barrel, achieving effective cleaning. It falls under the category of foundry machinery.

Applications

Suitable for sand cleaning, rust removal, descaling, and surface strengthening of castings and forgings under 15 kg in various industries.

Advantages

  1. Adopts a pit-free design, saving foundation construction costs.

  2. The blast chamber and blast wheel layout are optimized via 3D dynamic simulation, ensuring full and accurate coverage of workpieces by steel shot flow.

  3. Equipped with high-velocity cantilever centrifugal blast wheels, significantly improving cleaning efficiency and quality.

  4. Innovative design, compact structure, and easy operation and maintenance.

Operation

  1. Start in this order: dust collector → blast wheel → elevator → tumbling barrel. Stop in reverse order: tumbling barrel → elevator → blast wheel → dust collector.

  2. Do not overload the machine with workpieces; avoid jamming the blast wheel impeller.

  3. Set cleaning time according to process requirements.

  4. Securely lock the main door before starting the blast wheel to prevent steel shot ejection.

  5. Monitor the stability of the blast wheel; inform maintenance if excessive vibration occurs.

  6. Replenish steel shots regularly based on consumption.

  7. Do not load unsanded castings, as excess sand will affect separation and cleaning.

  8. Never open the door until the blast wheel and barrel have completely stopped.

Differences Between Tumble & Crawler Shot Blasting Machines

Tumble Shot Blasting Machine

Uses a rotating impeller to blast shots onto tumbling workpieces.Suitable for castings & forgings under 15 kg that resist collision and scratching.Ideal for small workshops for sand and scale removal.

Crawler Shot Blasting Machine

Suitable for various workpieces in medium to large batches, mainly for rust removal and strengthening.Handles workpieces under 150 kg that resist collision. Can be used standalone or integrated into a production line.Applications: die castings, precision castings, forgings, heat-treated parts, springs, fasteners.
